Crows and stuff

Sketches sometimes help me get my mind wrapped around an idea before I sculpt. In this case, a friend has asked me to make her a crow in the Shadow farm style. She asked for a classic crow profile, so I knew I needed a vague reference point to keep me within some sort of realm of crowiness. A google image search and several rough sketches later, sculpting has begun....

New stuff and reclaimed fabrics

Yeah, I'm still here. I've been working on new critters for upcoming shows, but just haven't felt like writing much. To be honest, the very thought of opening up this blog has seemed like a chore. I think I know why, but not really ready to delve deeper into it right now. So in the meantime, here's a few of my newest guys.

On a side note, my creatures this year are going to incorporate fabrics worn by my son Eric. It has been an interesting process to work each little scrap thru my sculpting medium, soaking it in the mixture then shaping it. Somehow, I feel like this is a good way to honor him and help renew some of my creative drive.

Beware the Ides of March

Hello there! It seems I have been a horrible blogger, leaving my little corner of the web stagnant, gathering dust and cobwebs. It has been a rough winter, keeping me away from the shop but not away from creativity. I have been steadily working on a variety of critters for 2014, sculpting heads on a small corner of the dining room table and saving the messier step of sculpting bodies for warmer weather when I can destroy the shop with mache, glues, and paints.
So, as a token of apology for my bloggy absence, I have created a coupon for my Etsy store! Now thru the end of this week, use coupon code IDESOFMARCH to save 15% off your Shadow Farm Etsy purchase.

Keep watching for more regular posts...I promise I'll keep in touch. There's alot of critters on the table already for this year!
