The neighbors have become anxious...it is getting really close to Halloween and still no decorations! The guy across the street finally asked why no yard haunt...he has seen load after load go from the yard and knew something was up. After explaining that everything is set up at Books N More this year, he let me in on a little secret... It seems the girl down the street has been spreading rumors to the other kids to explain the unusual absence of Halloween spirit. Apparently, if her sources are correct, the old guy that does the decorating DIED and they had to give away all the Halloween stuff.
I find this hilarious.
Next year, Lucy....next year.

Pumpkin Couple
Earlier this month I was contacted by the wife of a fellow haunter to make a special anniversary gift. We discussed several possibilities, and this is what I came up with. Making the tiny clothes for this 5 inch tall couple was quite a challenge as well as an exercise in patience. I am pleased with how the couple turned out, and was honored that I was chosen to create a memorable piece to celebrate their life together.

The Project
Earlier this month I mentioned a secret project that is keeping me from decorating my yard this year. I see no point is holding back the information any longer....I will be setting up and operating a Haunted House at Books N More in Wilmington Ohio. The Haunt will be part of the festivities for Wilmington's 2nd Annual Downtown Halloween Bash. It will run October 30th from 2:00 until the last victim leaves. Designed more with kids in mind, it will be a low impact haunt with a definite creepy vibe, but very few high intensity props and scenes ( although I'm not sure I'm the right one to be the judge of what is and isn't too much for the kids)
Here's the snag...The original plan gave me several months to build, decorate and tweak this 1600+ sq. ft. haunt. Reality and life had other plans, whittling the actual build time down to a mere two weekends...Weekend #1 is in the books now and the haunt is well under way. Weekend #2 is approaching fast...can it be done? I say confidently that it can and will happen.
Watch for more info and pictures to come...and if you are in the Wilmington, Ohio area this weekend and feel like lending a hand, stop in to Books N More. I will be more than happy to put you to work.

Ween
Ween is another creature spawned from the fertile soil of the Shadow Farm. Planted over a graveyard and harvested by the light of a full moon. Ween watches from the shadows as the trick or treaters make their rounds, always vigilant to protect the traditions and rituals of this, the season of the witch.

Johnathon Grubb
Often seen holding vigil at a fresh grave in the Shadow Farm Cemetery, Johnathon Grubb is a bit of an enigma. Local historians claims he is over 173 years old, yet the only thing that tells of his advanced years is his odd skin color and hunched posture. Some say he is a zombie. Some claim he was just too sad to die. Either way, if there has been a particularly sad burial, you can bet Johnathon Grubb will be seen that evening crying over his candle.

Luminarius: One last shot
Had to snap a quick dark shot of Luminarius before he gets packed up to go to his new home. Goodbye little friend...don't cause too much trouble for your new owner.

Luminarius
Luminarius is another creature spawned from the fertile soil of the Shadow Farm. Planted over a graveyard and harvested by the light of a full moon, he seems to be hatching some grim, maniacal plan by candlelight. Is he just a mischievous prankster, or are his intentions darker? Only time will tell in this, the season of the witch.

Moving Day
I have mixed emotions as I pack up the first load of props. This year I have decided that there will be no display in my yard. Instead, I will be helping to celebrate Halloween in Wilmington, Ohio at Books "N" More in conjunction with the Wilmington Downtown Halloween Bash. Throughout the month of October, many of my pieces will be on display in the store, while the remainder will lie in wait for a special event to be announced later. Rest assured that the spooks and spirits will be in good company alongside the true spirits that inhabit the store.
Come visit on October 7th for a presentation and book signing by authors of the Cincinnati Haunted Handbook Jeff and Michael Morris.
Take a tour of some of the known haunted spots, including Books "N" More with the Ohio Organization of Paranormal Studies every weekend in October.
Oh yeah...don't miss out on a midnight showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the historic Murphy Theatre....what better way to usher in Halloween 2010?
