Almost a stowaway...

This little beastie just about made it into my camper riding on a Halloween prop while I was packing up to leave from Great Lakes Fright Fest last Sunday. It is a beautiful spider, but I must say it made my skin crawl to think where it might have ended up. Does anyone know what kind of spider this is?

  3. Woah. Between this guy and the bat, you really collect the creepy creatures! I have no idea what kind of spider that is, so be careful with it!

  4. OMG, you are lucky because that's a highly verminous Michigan Striped Thrashback spider indigenous only to Southern Michigan......na..just kidding, no idea what kind of spider. Sorry we didn't make it to GLFF this year, hope you had fun.

  6. While it sounds cute, it looks like your spider is a Nursery Web Spider (very close to a Wolf Spider). And it's probably good you didn't know this before, but they can JUMP! A good 5" to 6". Their bite can be painful, but otherwise not dangerous.

Yeah, that's great to know: they jump AND bite!
