  3. Dressing up as an airship pirate, or a bearded lady, a Mandalorian, or a giant martini, and no one blinks an eye. Our orange-and-black festooned home bursting with spooky music and the rollicking chatter of party guests, laughing and munching on severed fingers, bat wings, and blood-red punch, while the little imps dare each other to go through the haunted maze in the garage. The unforgettable fragrance of a lit Jack O Lantern, the crunch of dead leaves beneath our feet. The one day a year we fearlessly open our doors to strangers dressed as devils, zombies, and vampires, and reward them with fistfuls of candy. Ah, Halloween!

  4. Halloween is mostly about feeling haunted. I kind of thrive on that

  5. Hallowe'en was my Grandparent's Wedding Anniversary. They were magicians, and a total kick in the pants. They always threw massive Hallowe'en parties in their home and had tons of wonderfully costumed and unique guests. Now it is my tradition to honor them, and celebrate their lives every Hallowe'en. Plus, I think scary stuff is cool, and I love decorating and crafting for the season. In all honesty, I bleed orange and black, all year long.

  7. That is an awesome story, Creepy Glowbugg!! Your grandparents sounded amazing!

For me, it's the crisp evening air, falling leaves, pumpkin beer, spooky music and movies, haunted houses, building props in the garage, my annual zombie costume and all my family getting together on Halloween night to bring the home haunt to life for the neighborhood kids. It really is the best time of the year!

  8. I love Halloween as a wonderful world I escape to every year that I wish I lived in all year long.

  9. For me Halloween is memories of acorns dropping in the yard. I'd peel them to end up with a small orange nut that would remind me of pumpkins while I counted the days to Halloween. Begging the folks to take me to K-mart to find the perfect rubber mask for the yet to be determined costume. Being embarrassed about Mom's cheesy giant pumpkin on the front door. Constantly holding my treating pumpkin with the shoelace handle while I watched T.V. in October. Carving a jack' o on newspaper at the counter....Dang the memories are flooding back!

  11. Creepy Glowbugg has hands down the best story to share. I just wanted to say that the skull is awesome. This time of year when I'm peddling home from work in 105 degree heat I like to think of the crisp cool nights that lead up to Halloween when I spend lots of time in the garage and the neighbors wonder what the heck I'm up to. I usually play this one one a night out there : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMqxNPsfN50 -Tom Waits, Whats He Building?

  13. I've had a passion for everything dark and supernatural ever since I was a toddler, so Halloween is just a natural extension of it. Also, Halloween didn't exist in my country when I was young (I only knew it from movies), making me even more obsessed with it.

I'm following on GFC for over a year now and also just started following you on Bloglovin.

I'm not sure if you know that GFC will disappear on Monday, so you might want to ask readers to follow you in another way ;-)

  16. I love the feeling you get as Halloween gets closer; the seasons are turning, and theres a kind of sadness and foreboding in the air. But theres anticipation for this last night of excitement and fear and joy all wrapped up in one. Its so hard to describe, but you know it when you feel it. Having younger kids magnifies that felling 100 fold as thier excitement fuels yours.

  17. I love Halloween! To me it is the one time of the year where you get to express any side of you whether it be dark and demented, or fun and wild. I love bringing a good scare to the kids around the neighborhood and planning for the deco and carving pumpkins with the family and last but not least. It is the one day of year where society accepts the freak in each and ever one of us.

  21. The mystery, the energy, the ebb and flow in the night, will forever resonate with me. Something comes alive in October.

  22. How about I just quote my favorite old Victorian Invitation:

When the bats like ghosts are gliding,
    Witches soar, on broomsticks riding,
    Jack-o-lanterns twinkle, grinning
Our Halloween revelry will be just beginning!

  24. Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. My dad would drag us out trick or treating until the wee hours - when we were sure to get the last of what was in the candy bowls and have the porch lights turned off after we left. I went out trick or treating, fully-costumed, until I was in my early 30's. And then in October of 2011, I got married. My husband was gracious enough to agree to the Halloween themed wedding that I had always wanted. Jars of gushy eyeballs and test tubes of slime littered our candy buffet. We were even able to go to one of the major haunted houses in the area before our reception for wedding photos with the ghouls (and the wonderful scenery we could not get anywhere else). Halloween will always be my favorite - and every year I get to add more reasons why to my list. (Zelly72@aol.com)

  25. I don't think I can formally follow the blog since I don't have a profile(:)), but I can still say what I like about Halloween - it's a chance to be creative and make memories for the kids who visit us. It's a little hint of immortality when you know that, long after you're gone, there will be someone saying "There was this one house when I was a kid...."

  27. My favorite part about Halloween is the decorating. I'm not a huge fan of certain styles, but I love everything that can be described as spooky-cute, especially the twinge of innocence in a lot of your art!

  28. Halloween collectables make my heart race

  29. I love Halloween. I love the cool air, the mystical essence and the colors in my backyard. I love the orange, black, purple and green. I love the jack-o-lanterns and the chorus of "trick or treat" at my door. It is the one time of year I feel truly centered and focused.

  30. I simply lovet he spookiness of it all! There's something about a flickering flame in a grinning pumpkin... a bit of a breeze blowing the autumn colored leaves,,, and a creepy ghoulie thing staring back at you from the darkness! Muuuhhahhaha ha ha! :-)

  31. I can let my imagination run wild and I love the small moment of panic you see in someones eyes when you set up a good scare. Its just like fear is in the air. The harder someone tries to play tough and laugh it off the sweeter the look of panic. Oh and its the only time of year its socially acceptable to scare children.

  32. Don't know if it counts but I subscribe to your RSS feed that's how I found this post.

Halloween is an outlet for my creativity that runs wild & crazy through the year building up for one fun night! The smiles on the kids faces and the thanks from the caring parents.

  33. I am subscribed through facebook... Halloween is a night of enchantment for kids of all ages. I like to decorate and help hubby with his prop setup for the kids every year. The looks and smiles on the kids when they see the different things working, moving and such is such an inspiration to try harder next year. Halloween is for the enjoyment of kids , young ones and the young at heart ones. Nancy Horton
