The middle image was the result of trying to lighten up an image that was much too dark. It reminds me of a very old Christmas card for some reason.
This is exactly what I was hoping to see: some "in character" shots in an appropriately gloomy setting. It's one thing to see this during the day and study it for its construction. It's another thing entirely to see it in action.The middle image reminds me of a photo from an old Haunted Mansion picture book I had in my youth.
